Wildlife Renditions

Artist Statement

My reasons for rendering the magnificence of animals in the wild comes from a deep desire to capture and share its beauty. When I decide on a subject I specifically choose it because I wish to convey its special characteristics that embodies its soul.
As a wildlife artist and lover of the great outdoors I am keenly aware of the ongoing struggles that we as humans perpetuate while coexisting with the natural world. Through
my renditions of wildlife I want to share my reverence for the animal world with the hopes that my work will evoke the same sense of reverence to the viewer. My aspirations
are to someday become collect-able enough to donate some proceeds of the sales of my work to wildlife conservation efforts. Therefore I chose the name Wildlife Renditions as
the name of this endeavor because my efforts are more about the special meaning of the subject and not so much about me as the artist.
When I set out to compose a piece I begin with research. I want to gain an insight about the animals existence as well as what life is like for that animal. Starting with this step in
the process helps me to visualize what I want to convey. I feel that the best way to study an animal is to observe them first hand in order to capture their mannerisms while sketching, photographing and making notes to take back to the studio. This part of the
process is just as exciting for me as executing the rendition on canvas or paper in the studio.
